A Quick Message from the Admin
To our members that are returning, I'm glad that you decided to come over from the original site, and hope you enjoy this site, as much as the original. There have been many changes, I'm sure you've noticed, and I hope you all think positively of them. Please do not hesitate to send me questions via E-mail or PM if you have a question or problem with any of the codes. To those that are new to "The Dementor's Kiss," I would like to congratulate you on finding this site, whether it be from a friend, a search engine, a top sites, or an affiliate site, or any other means, and hope you enjyo this site as much as the current members do. The Site Rules
Kindly read these site rules, to ensure you have a pleasant time on The Dementor's Kiss
First off, welcome to the site.
I hope you enjoy your time here, and that the site kicks off and becomes active.
Please bring your friends!
Rules are not going to be strict, nor will there be many.
Therefore, I ask that you follow them closely, and we won't have a problem!
1. Do not God-mod. I'm sure every one has experienced it, and no one will tell you it's fun, unless you're the one godmoding, of course. For clarification on godmoding, please head over to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godmoding
2. Please do not post until you have been sorted. The admin has many things to do and cannot sort someone right away. A decent time frame would be to give the admin a full day to sort you after posting in the sorting thread. Don't whine to other players about not being sorted, and don't PM the admin asking why you haven't been sorted yet. You will be sorted in time. Please accept what house you get into. If you say you're most desired house is Gryffindor and you are placed in Ravenclaw, the admin has decided you would be better off in that house and that is that. Please don't complain to the admin. He will not change his mind.
3. A board-wide plot has been constructed. The admin is allowing subplots (#3a) on the site, and a large amount of freedom. Just pay attention to plots, and get involved, if possible. Also, do not -rush- plots. Any staff members may not give information out on plots if they know in advance. Also, don't decide to open the Chamber of Secrets (or anything of the like). It's obnoxious for everyone, and you'll get suspended, warned, banned, whatever; depending on my mood that day.
3a. You may create your own subplots amongst yourselves, but they must be approved by the admin first.
3b. The current time is set to 1997.
3c. You may have posts strictly between you and another person, simply state that in the title or subject of the thread. ((IE: Walking by the Lake:: Blaine Only)) Please don't make a habit of this. It is understood that some threads are simply best between the desired people, without people barging in, but don't limit your role-playing to only that. Get involved. Meet new people. Make friends.
4. PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPELLING AND GRAMMAR!
It gits AnNoYiNg wen ppl tipe LIEK DiS. Spelling and grammar checks are always available to help you. You cannot overuse such a tool. Take advantage of it. It'll help people understand what you're saying, and make people want to role-play with you. If you use horrible grammar and spelling, people are going to not want to role-play with you, because it gets annoying to read, and surely you must feel bad when you type horribly, and people role-play with correct grammar and spelling with you.. The difference in noticeable.
CHARACTER YEARS
5. First Year * 11 - 12 years old.
Second Year * 12 - 13 years old.
Third Year * 13 - 14 years old.
Fourth Year * 14 - 15 years old.
Fifth Year * 15 - 16 years old.
Sixth Year * 16 - 17 years old.
Seventh Year * 17 - 18 years old.
CHARACTER RULES
6. You may only have ONE character at the beginning of your time here. After a period of time, if you would like another character, you must PM the admin and ask. Their response will be based on your activity and role-playing ability.
6a. If you create a second account, it will be deleted, with or without notification to the member. It is stated in the rules that you may not have two accounts, so please do not argue the topic with me.
7. Canon Characters are currently [b]allowed[/b]. Canon. This means they must be mentioned in the book or movie. This does not mean you may create Ms. Natalie Malfoy, and try to become the Charms Professor. there was never a Natalie Malfoy, so please don't create it. Be creative, and use your imagination.
8. All characters must have two names. You must register with how you would like your name to appear. In other words? You won't be accepted if your name is "hpluverxoxo" Register with the name you wish for the RP, and that's your name for good. The admin will reject any profiles you may submit until you have decided on a full name.
9. Keep things PG-13 rated. NC-17 content will be tolerated. Don't get carried away with language. Also, please don't run around with bottles of firewhiskey and butterbeer. You don't have your own personal stock of The Three Broomsticks inventory in your dorm room. Drugs, getting drunk, sex, etc. are PROHIBITED and will result in suspension or possibly banning, depending on the severity and content posted of the offense. Talk to the admin if you have any idea that is borderline, and we can go from there.
CLASS RULES
10. Please try your best to attend classes. This is Hogwarts, and Hogwarts is, for those of you that have forgotten, a school. Classes are the most important part of the school, but not necessarily for this site. Still, you must attend classes. Should something come up that prevents you from attending lessons, please notify the class professor with a valid reason as to why you missed class.
There will be midterms and finals. It is up to the headmaster and professors to determine how such things will be done.
You may only advance a year after finals, if you pass your class exams, and participate in a majority of the classes on the site.
AVATARS AND SIGNATURE GRAPHICS
11. Please keep all avatars appropriate and at a size of [b]100px X 100px.[/b]
12. Please keep all signatures appropriate and at a size of [b]500px X 200px[/b] or smaller.
13. The admin may delete any avatar or signature that does not meet these standards. I'm enforcing this rule from now on. On the previous site, I let it slide. However, if your sig. is over 500x200, it will be deleted without your notification.
OTHER
***14. The admin reserves the right to suspend, ban, and delete any account for any reason without question or reasoning. It is suggested that you follow all these rules to stay on the site. It isn't that hard to follow these rules, most of them basic.
ADVERTISING AND AFFILIATING
15. A board will be set up for this purpose, but please read this carefully. In order to affiliate with our site, we ask that our site be advertised on your site prior to your site appearing on ours. We will check this, to make sure we are advertised, and if you take our advertisement down, you will be removed, no questions asked.
15a. If we post an ADVERTISEMENT on your site, please LINK BACK by posting in the Advertising board with LINKING BACK in the subject. This benefits the admins, for we do not re-advertise your site.
15b. I'm going to be tough this time around on affiliating as well. All buttons [size=4][b]MUST[/b][/size] be 88x31 pixels. I will not add your button if your image is too large or too small. It throws off the affiliates bar, and I'm not wasting my time to fix one image.
